Other Towns We Serve in Michigan

Mason is a growing town of 7200 people located minutes from Lansing and East Lansing, home of Michigan State University. The agricultural setting surrounding the city is an attractive buffer from nearby urban areas. Quiet neighborhoods, a historic downtown, rural charm, affordable homes, a strong sense of community pride, a high-quality school system and convenient access to the Lansing, Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, and Detroit metropolitan areas are a few of the attributes that make Mason a great place to live and work.

Public Parks

The City of Mason maintains seven public parks totaling almost 31 acres. The parks are opened daily to the public during the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M., during the months of May through October and 8:00 A.M. to one-half hour after sunset, November through April.

Ingham County Fair

Don't miss the granddaddy of all county fairs in Michigan, the Ingham County Fair, in late July! Featuring: carnival rides, chainsaw wood carvers, musical entertainment, food vendors, animals/petting zoo, bull-mania rodeo, pony rides, figure 8 demo derby and lots of clowns and rare and exotic wild animals.

Spartan Speedway

Spartan Speedway

The Spartan Speedway consists of an asphalt oval track that is 1/4 of a mile long. Races feature stock cars, I-car modifiers, stunt cars, midgets, dwarf cars, and figure eight racing. Check Out Mason!

The High School

A superb community with a small-town appeal! Holt's high school was recognized as one of the top 100 schools in the nation. The Holt area has over 620 acres of parks. This community is home to many national and international companies which provide a broad range of products and services around the world.

Check Out Delhi Township!

DeWitt is located in central lower Michigan, conveniently only 15 minutes north of the State Capitol. You'll find our City Hall on Round Lake Road off US-27. Our downtown is located at the corner of Bridge and Main Streets. You'll find historic landmarks, beautiful Riverside Park and unique shops and businesses.

School

Check Out Dewitt!

This bustling suburb along Lansing's western flank is one of the area's fastest-growing and most diverse. Even though its main drag is busy Saginaw Street, the township still has a bit of that small-town feel Horrock's, an icon in Delta Township, began in 1959 as a small roadside fruit stand. It still has that earthy, down-home feel, although now it offers everything from French pussy willow plants to marinated sun-dried tomatoes and stuffed olives to an extensive wine list. Phyllis Manuel said the produce store is one of her favorite hangouts. "You always run into someone you know," she said. The township - long home to several General Motors Corp. facilities - is gearing up for a new $800 million assembly plant that will open in 2006 and employ 2,900.

Schools In the Waverly Area

Check out Delta!

Grand Ledge is an active community with numerous service organizations, clubs, and programs. Whether your interest is in gardening, reading, youth, entertaining, education, or serving those in need, you are sure to find an organization of interest or the people and energy to start your own project. The residents of the Grand Ledge community are well-know for their volunteer spirit and generosity. Most recently, time and donations of goods and money have made possible the creation of the Skate Park for the area youth , the enhancement of the Grand Ledge Spotlight Theater, and the raising of over $74,000 during the inaugural Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society.

Police Department

The Grand Ledge Police Department is proud to serve such an exciting and friendly city. Grand Ledge is recognized as one of the safest cities in the area and our police department is recognized as a leader in innovative law enforcement. Each and every one of us can be proud of these accomplishments. The hard work of the police officers and the citizens alike have made this possible. We believe that an effective partnership with the community will not only reduce crime, but will also create a safe environment for all in which to live, work, and raise our families.

Public Schools

The Grand Ledge Public Schools are known for its distinguished student achievement and exemplary delivery of quality educational programs. Their mission is to help all students perform at the highest level of their abilities so that they become life long learners and productive contributors to their community.

Business Community

Doing business in Grand Ledge! This beautiful river city is located on the Grand River just a few miles west
of Lansing. The name "Grand Ledge" was derived from the unique geology of its sandstone Ledges. The Downtown Development Authority recently refurbished the downtown area with new streets, sidewalks, trees, street lights and other unique architectural features. Grand Ledge offers you everything you need to operate your business. The City encourages economic development through direct assistance and participation in federal, state and local incentive programs. Grand Ledge offers an ideal business environment, a large employee pool, a supportive financial atmosphere and a quality living experience for both you and your employees.

Known for its antique stores, specialty shops and well-kept neighborhoods, Williamston manages to maintain its beauty and charm as the community grows. The downtown business district features many historic buildings and is centered along Grand River Avenue at Putnam Street, with the Red Cedar River flowing through the heart of the city.

People are attracted to Williamston because of its quaint, small-town atmosphere. Yet, the city is only a mile from I-96, which offers convenient travel to jobs, colleges, entertainment and shopping centers. Williamston is located just five miles from the Meridian Mall in Okemos, nine miles from Michigan State University in East Lansing, and 14 miles from the State Capitol in Lansing. Many residents commute to other urban areas for jobs. The city is also attempting to expand the local job and tax bases with additions to its industrial park on the city's south side.
Downtown Williamston consists of a variety of specialty shops and restaurants in historic buildings that have been well preserved. West of downtown is Deer Creek Park, featuring a sledding hill, basketball courts, and a running track, and The Williamston Depot Museum, a renovated railroad depot that houses the Williamston Area Chamber of Commerce and the city museum. North of the downtown area is McCormick Park, which is being redesigned to resemble an old English park and already boasts riverside benches and a playscape for children. On the Red Cedar River, where there was once a millrace and then a hydroelectric dam, there is now whitewater rapids, offering a challenging ride for canoe and kayak enthusiasts. There is also a riverside boardwalk for strolling. More wide walkways are being planned as the city tries to encourage pedestrian travel. The community also has an indoor public pool for swimmers near the high school.

Public Schools

Williamston Community Schools now serves more than 1,900 children in grades K-12, according to the latest enrollment tabulations. The school district has two elementary school buildings, one for children in grades K-2 and the other for children in grades 3-5; a middle school building for students in grades 6-8; and a high school. The school district's Williamston Area Community Center offers additional programs, such as preschool, childcare, adult education, and a center for the area's senior citizens.
With an area population of more than 10,000, Williamston is expected to add about 200 households in the coming years. Seven residential developments are being expanded and four new housing developments are planned.
The community's annual festival, called the Red Cedar Jubilee, is celebrated during the third full week of June. This event, along with others held throughout the year, attract thousands of visitors to the friendly community.

Sun Movie Theatre

Williamston has a movie theatre. Seats are normally $3.50, and there is a new movie each week.

Real Estate Tips
Animal House >House Odors

What is "H.O."? You can probably guess--it means "home odors".

Be careful of odors in your home. If your family room smells stuffy and stale, or if your cat or dog has left a distinctive odor in the hallway, take action by eliminating the source of the odor rather than merely treating the effects. Smells have a powerful effect on the way people react to a house, and no amount of room freshener or vanilla on the light bulbs can mask a serious odor problem. In fact, such remedies may draw attention to the problem. We have seen homes with an odor problem languish unsold on the market for months or sell for significantly less than comparable homes in the neighborhood.

If you think that you may have a problem, talk candidly with your real estate agent. Your agent should be able to offer some constructive suggestions, and perhaps refer you to a professional who can help banish H.O. from your home!
